Tengo la fortuna de vivir en el campo y me encanta. A los pies de mi casa tengo sembrados naranjos, manzanos, granados, higueras…. tengo asegurado el suministro de fruta fresca practicamente todo el año.

Un elemento imprescindible en la polinización de los frutales son las abejas, que de flor en flor andan buscando el nectar para alimentar a la colmena. En este trajín, quedan empapadas en polen y esto permitirá que las flores de hoy sean dulces nisperos a principios de mayo.

Es tal la cantidad de “polvo amarillo” que llegan a acumular en sus cuerpos que en las patas se les forman verdaderas rocas de polen. Polen que después nos venderán en los herbolarios para curar cualquier resfriado.

Les debemos mucho a las abejas.

I´m really fortunate to be living in the country side. Just by my house I have orange trees, mandarin, apple, fig, pomegranate trees… I have fresh fruit guaranteed almost all year long.

An indispensable element in fruit tree pollination are bees, wich, from flower to flower, go searching for nectar to feed the beehive. In this coming and going they get all covered in pollen and this will allow the flowers of today become sweet medlar in the begining of May.

Sometimes bees get so covered with that “yellow dust” that, in their legs, rocks of pollen are created. Pollen that, afterwards, the herbalist will sell us to heal any cold.

We owe bees a lot.
